2012: PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® creates the event on the PEUGEOT 208
With the first generation of the PEUGEOT 208, PEUGEOT dares to revolutionise one of the elements that has evolved least in the history of the automobile: the driver's seat. The innovation transforms the driving experience. Judge for yourself: a more compact steering wheel, driving information at eye level and a central touch screen.
2012: PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® creates the event on the PEUGEOT 208

2016 : PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®2e generation ushers in the digital age
A true "sensation amplifier", the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® is constantly being improved to be ever more efficient. In 2016, the second generation of the PEUGEOT 3008 and PEUGEOT 5008 inaugurates a version with a 12.3-inch digital handset that can be fully customised and personalised, while toggle switches are placed underneath the central touchscreen to make access to essential functions even easier. In 2019, the second-generation PEUGEOT 208 introduces a 3D digital handset.

2021-2022: PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® gets even better with i-Connect®.

The PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® goes one step further on the new PEUGEOT 308 (2021) and 408 (2022) with the introduction of the new i-Connect® infotainment system, a new compact steering wheel capable of detecting the presence of the driver's hands when using the driving aids, and touch-sensitive i-toggles that can be configured for air conditioning, telephone contact, radio station and application launch settings, all of which can be set at the user's discretion.

"I am 39 years old, have two children and live in the Somme. Since February 2020, I have been driving a 508 SW."

 

How long have you been a PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® user?

"I have been using the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® since October 2013 with the purchase of my first 308. The 508 has a version with a digital panel whereas the 308s had needle meters and a central matrix."

 

What was the aspect that most attracted you when you tried the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® for the first time?

"When I did my first test drive, I was really surprised by the agility of the vehicle and in the end, I felt like I was driving a smaller vehicle. I still have this feeling with the 508, which is quite large. Finally, I find that the i-Cockpit® is a natural fit. Now, when I drive a vehicle that is not equipped with an i-Cockpit®, it feels strange! The steering wheel feels huge and it doesn't feel natural to look at the speedometer information through the steering wheel.

 

Did you experience any new driving sensations? Which ones?

"As an occasional karting fan, I immediately saw the parallel, with the small steering wheel and the agility of the vehicle. It makes driving more fun and puts a smile on your face!

 

Do you find that PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® makes your driving easier? Why do you think so?

"The information displayed on the panel falls directly in front of the eyes, in continuity with the bottom of the windscreen. The different screens that can be selected on the digital panel allow you to display the information you want, depending on driving situations or personal preferences.

"I have been using PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® since I bought my new 208 in 2020."

 

What was the aspect that most attracted you when you tried the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® for the first time?

"For me, the 3D display instead of the usual analogue display was very impressive and really appealing. The configuration with the lower steering wheel and the information displayed high up surprised me a lot at first."

 

Do you find that PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® makes your driving easier? Why do you think so?

"Yes, I immediately found this configuration very comfortable, especially with the steering wheel which is smaller and lighter."

What was the aspect that most attracted you when you tried the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® for the first time?

"For me, this little steering wheel was fabulous! I also liked the low seating position and the sporty, wraparound seat edges. I'm quite tall so I found my ideal position by moving the seat back as far as possible."

 

Did you experience any new driving sensations? Which ones?

"I especially felt new sensations when driving in the city: the small steering wheel is more comfortable, the power steering is excellent. But now that I've tried the small steering wheel, it's hard to give it up! When I change cars for work, I really notice the difference"

 

Do you find that PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® makes your driving easier? Why do you think so?

"The steering wheel controls are perfect, not too many buttons, you can reach them without taking your hands off. This is essential for safety. The separate lever for the automatic speed control is very convenient, you can reach it with your fingertips."
